Art Beacon

Art Beacon is providing a vibrant new voice to local arts review and criticism. The blog was launched by four area artists “hungry for increased coverage on local art and a forum for critical discussion,” says Des Moines sculptor Rachel Buse, site manager and one of the blog’s founders. Volunteer contributors, including area artists and professors, write the reviews. “The goal is simple: We agree that in order to grow, Des Moines’ art scene needs a critical voice,” says artist and contributor Cat Rocketship. “So we’re writing one, trying to be as honest and clear-minded as possible about the shows in local galleries, from local and national artists.”
