Ten years ago, Jackie and TJ Moberg started Moberg Gallery with a roster of four artists. Today, the gallery represents 50 well-respected artists who hail from Iowa as well as from across the country. Moberg is celebrating its anniversary with a group exhibit featuring works from 40 of the gallery’s artists, including local favorites such as John Phillip Davis, Chris Vance, Mary Kline Misol and Bill Luchsinger, as well as noted artists from elsewhere, such as Sandra Perlow of Chicago.
The gallery’s growth reflects the blossoming of Des Moines’ arts and cultural scene over the past decade, Jackie Moberg notes. “There’s a lot more awareness of and interest in the art world now,” she says. “There’s been a surge of public art throughout the city, and we’re also seeing a lot more arts groups and councils where people come together to promote and appreciate original art.”
The 10-year exhibit runs through Nov. 24. More info: moberggallery.com
