Bravo Happenings

Bravo Greater Des Moines is chock-full of news this month:

  • The arts council is accepting proposals for fiscal year 2013 capital campaign and capital project grants. Applicants must be not-for-profit arts, cultural and heritage organizations. Deadline is Nov. 7; visit for funding guidelines and application information. The grant awards will be announced in January 2013.
  • Nominations are being accepted for the third annual Encore Award, which will recognize a Bravo-funded organization that has demonstrated “going above and beyond the normal, procedural course of programming” during the 2011 and/or 2012 calendar years. Interested applicants should describe, in two pages or less, their programming. Deadline is Nov. 9. Bravo will recognize the chosen organization at the annual Bravo gala Feb. 2, 2013, at Hy-Vee Hall.   • This year’s Birdies for Charity raised $100,000 in support of Bravo’s Connecting Kids and Culture program. Each year, the program provides about 44,000 metro-area elementary school students with opportunities to experience the area’s arts and cultural offerings in ways that directly relate to what they’re learning in the classroom.
