Have you ever heard of Eric Vloeimans? No? Well, it’s time you do. The renowned Dutch trumpeter, along with German pianist Florian Weber, will perform what one critic describes as “a tuneful show that manages to be both cutting-edge and rich with jazz classicism” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at The Caspe Terrace in Waukee. After the concert, the Waukee Arts Council will host a meet-the artist reception.
The concert is part of the Jazz at The Caspe Terrace series, which, thanks to local jazz aficionados Abe Goldstien and Jackie Garnett, brings internationally acclaimed jazz artists to our backyard. Goldstien notes that Vloeimans’ American tour includes such jazz hotspots as Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Boston, Seattle “and, of course, Waukee, Iowa. … Because of the quality of the audience and our Iowa hospitality, artists seek out opportunities to come to Des Moines. Several have even made recordings of their Caspe Terrace appearances.” Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, available by calling 279-6452 or emailing abe@trilixgroup.com.
