Symphony DVD

The only thing that dismayed us about September’s “Symphony in Sculpture” world premiere was that it ended. But now we can enjoy it again and again with a new DVD that’s expected to be released in early January. Composed by Steven Heitzeg, the specially commissioned work for the Des Moines Symphony’s 75th anniversary pays tribute to the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park by portraying nine of the sculptures through music. The DVD features a fresh recording of the piece by the Des Moines Symphony, the video shown during the original performance, and a behind-the-scenes documentary. It costs $25 and includes $5 shipping and handling. To preorder, visit dmsymphony.org.
