New Exhibit

The works of Gary Bowling (pictured above), Mac Hornecker and Ken Smith share the spotlight in a new exhibit at Olson-Larsen Galleries, which runs through April 6. One of the Midwest’s most popular oil painters, Bowling focuses on landscapes, using brushstrokes that give his works a rich, textured look. Distinguished sculptor Mac Hornecker, who taught at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake from 1971 to 2001, creates a variety of works in wood, steel, stone, bronze and aluminum. The artist has said that “the history and topography of the landscape” inspires his work.  Des Moines native Ken Smith, who now lives in Washington, works in both digital and traditional photography. His compositions often reflect nature’s beauty and tranquility.
