Metro Opera’s New Season

Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO), which recently wrapped up a successful 41st festival season, is already looking forward to next year. The company has announced that its 2014 lineup will include Verdi’s “La Traviata,” Jake Heggie’s “Dead Man Walking” and Rossini’s “Le Comte Ory.” The operas will be performed on various dates from June 27 to July 19 at Blank Performing Arts Center in Indianola. In addition, DMMO will present “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” a one-act opera by Menotti, at Hoyt Sherman Place Dec. 6 and 7, 2013; and  Bizet and Brook’s “La Tragedie de Carmen” at the Des Moines Social Club July 10 and 19, 2014.

If you’re a subscriber, you can renew now; new subscriptions go on sale on Oct. 1. Single tickets will first be available at DMMO’s Wine and Food Showcase Feb. 21 and go on sale to the general public on March 1.
