Eastern Expansion

Steven Vail Fine Arts, a gallery in Des Moines’ East Village, plans to open a second location in a historic building in downtown Iowa City next month. The gallery, featuring international artists whose work appears in major museums around the world, will complement the Iowa City arts scene, which emphasizes regional and local artists, owner Steven Vail says. Vail’s 800-square-foot “Project Room” will move into the recently renovated Packing & Provision Co. Building at 118 E. College St., joining tenants FilmScene, a nonprofit arts organization, and Velvet Coat, a women’s clothing and accessories store that also has a location in Des Moines’ East Village.
