The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines is offering two training sessions designed to boost nonprofit board effectiveness. Consultant Stacy Van Gorp will present “Isn’t There a Better Way? The Board’s Role in Innovation at Your Nonprofit” Oct. 28, 3-5:30 p.m. The interactive session will offer tools and strategies to govern an innovative organization. Lloyd VanderKwaak, president of ChildServe, will conduct “On Board: The Basics to Being an Effective Board Member” Nov. 18, 3-5:30 p.m. The workshop will explore trends, effective practices and legal requirements in organizational oversight.
