Non-Profit: Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines

Venue: Downtown Des Moines Marriott

Main Attraction: Over 450 guests joined the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines in celebrating a record breaking year of charitable giving. Board chair Cara Heiden and Community Foundation president Kristi Knous provided an overview of the Community Foundation’s recent work in improving quality of life in our community. Meals from the Heartland was recognized as the organizational recipient of the Better Together Award and received a $2,500 grant from the Community Foundation to advance its social capital work. Paul Turner of AMOS was selected as the individual recipient of the Better Together award and received a $1,000 Giving Cards from the Community Foundation to invest in a local nonprofit of his choice that is building social capital. The award recognizes organizations, civic groups and individuals building social capital in our community.

Unique Touch: Guests received warm Thelma’s chocolate chip cookies as they exited the event.

Music: Andy Fleming of Brother Trucker provided music.
