Nonprofit: Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines

Main Attraction: Over 470 guests joined the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines in celebrating a successful year of promoting charitable giving, connecting donors with causes they care about and providing leadership on important community issues. Board chair Cara Heiden and Community Foundation president Kristi Knous provided an overview of the Community Foundation’s recent work. The success of the Community Foundation in 2014 was highlighted by playing Price is Right, featuring community leaders as contestants. YNPN Des Moines was recognized as the recipient of the Better Together Award and received $2,500 from the Community Foundation to advance its social capital work.
Unique Touch: Guests received warm Thelma’s chocolate chip cookies as they excited the event.
Music: Local band MAIDS, of the Station 1 Record label, was featured. Station 1 Records was a recipient of the Ignite Community Innovation Challenge.
