
Iowa native Michelle Hoover is the author of two novels and now lives in Boston, where she teaches writing. Ames native Michelle Hoover kicks off this year’s AViD series next Tuesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in the downtown Central Library. Hoover is the author of two novels, including “Bottomland,” the story of a German-American family in Iowa in the 1920s. The book was the 2017 All Iowa Reads title.
The popular Authors Visiting in Des Moines series of talks is a rite of spring in Des Moines and a unique way for book lovers to meet and talk with prominent writers. Featured in future AViD presentations (all free) are Eloisa James on March 21, Jon Ronson on April 12, Maureen Corrigan on April 22, Nathan Hill on May 11 and Heather Gudenkauf on May 30.
