Brazilian Fest Saturday

Sample the sights, sounds, tastes, and traditions of one of the world’s most diverse countries this Saturday, May 13, at Living Cultures: Brazil – a unique, family-friendly evening from 7 to 10 p.m. at Valley High School.

Entertainment, games and hands-on activities will introduce guests of all ages to Brazil’s vibrant regional cultures. Entertainers includes musical performances by the Brazilian 2wins and Choro Moingona, regional dances by Brazilian Moves – a local Brazilian dance company, and Capoeira – a combination of dance and martial arts – by performers from Fitness Connections.

Guests can sample Brazilian foods, play a game, make a Carnaval-style mask, get decorated with exotic Brazilian-inspired “face art,” and dance the night away with Brazilian-style dances guided by a professional instructor.

To keep the event culturally authentic, it is presented by CultureALL in collaboration with Central Iowa’s Brazilian Cultural Center and a volunteers that include members of the local Brazilian community. Tickets are $35 for Adults and $15 for students ages 13 and over. Children ages 12 and under will be admitted free, but reservations are recommended.
