Mission

Oakridge Neighborhood creates pathways to success for adults, children and families by providing affordable housing, culturally diverse education programs, and comprehensive employability services.

Key Services Provided

Oakridge Neighborhood provides affordable housing, supportive programs and essential services for the most vulnerable members of our community. Programs include: Workforce Readiness and Placement, Financial Empowerment and Path to Homeownership, Wheels of HOPE, Digital Literacy, Drivers Ed and CDL Career Pathways, ELL and Citizenship classes, nationally accredited Oak Academy preschool, 21st Century Community Learning Center after-school and out-of-school youth academic and enrichment programs for students K-12, and more.

Key Audiences Served

Oakridge Neighborhood is one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in Des Moines, serving residents and others from across the metro. Our nearly 1,000 residents include refugees and immigrants from 26 countries speaking 39 languages. Over 50 percent are children, 72 percent are refugees and immigrants, and 99 percent are low income.
