Des Moines To Host First-Ever Ironman Event

Athletes from across the country will be in town to participate in the first-ever Ironman 70.3 Des Moines triathlon on Sunday. The race is 70.3 miles, half of a full triathlon, and includes a 1.2-mile swim around Gray’s Lake, a 56-mile bike ride through Water Works Park and West Des Moines, and a 13.1-mile run in Gray’s Lake Park and downtown Des Moines.

Ironman will also offer qualifying slots per age group and 25 Women for Tri slots to the 2021 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George, Utah. See the course map here and pick a spot to cheer on the participants.
