For many homeowners, the schools, churches, neighborhoods, and, most importantly, people who surround them, aren’t things they are willing to forfeit to live comfortably. “You love your community. Keep it,” Rusty Green, CEO of and the visionary behind Compelling Homes, says. His team of experts is singularly positioned to help the family who’s looking to remake their existing home into a space tailored specifically to them — an undertaking that can be an emotional and time-intensive journey.

The individuals of Compelling Homes — from designers to project managers — combine their talents to create spaces that feel as good as putting on a favorite pair of jeans or comfy sneakers. “Together, we create bespoke, personalized, custom spaces where people feel phenomenally comfortable,” Green said. “We create a space where you walk in and say, ‘This is home.’”

But how? Since 2009, the staff of Compelling Homes have lived up to the promise of delivering a “complete wow experience” through honesty, overcommunication and caring — all core values for the company and how every member of the team pledges to operate. The tight-knit team also strives to be tenacious under any circumstance. The company culture of holding each other accountable to be an even better remodeler tomorrow also drives every employee to deliver their best work every day to every customer. “Even when things are not going well, we have to continue to provide that ‘complete wow experience,’” Green said.

“We create a space where you walk in and say, ‘This is home.’”

Recently, an Urbandale homeowner came to the company with sincere love for her community, but disdain for her existing home. With short commutes to work and schools, activities, and a church that the whole family loves, “she realized that they weren’t going anywhere, but their home didn’t fit the needs of these parents with three daughters under 12 years old,” Green said. Built in the early 2000s, the home was somewhat frozen in time by design trends no longer in line with the homeowners’ personal tastes. In addition, spaces were not practical for the family. They desperately needed a mud room — a space where backpacks, boots and sports equipment can be dropped just inside the back door. And bathrooms and closets demanded dramatic changes for the girls who are quickly approaching their teen years.

Once the project was underway, the team discovered mold and water damage that required structural repairs. But extending the project’s timeline was not an option. This is where the team’s tenacity rose to the fore. The scope of work increased without changing the finish date, all while providing daily updates to the homeowners. The experience was, the Compelling Homes team confirmed, a “complete wow” for the clients and delivered a home that fits their family and functions beautifully with how they live.

At Compelling Homes, it’s about making every client feel comfortably at homenot only inside their new, tailor-made spaces, but also with the process, from start to finish. And it’s the Compelling Homes team members who are the keys to delivering those outstanding results.
