When Lisa Nelson walked through the doors of K. Renee’s retail store in West Des Moines, she wasn’t shopping for herself. She was searching for a dining room table for her daughter, who lives out-of-state. What she didn’t know was that she was going to leave with more than just a table…she would leave with a new set of very talented friends.

“I found them to have really high integrity and character and to be warm and friendly,” says Lisa, of the five interior designers that compose the K. Renee staff. “And you really do feel like you’re working with friends. I mean, you really do establish a relationship, a personal relationship, with them. And I know that their goal [is to] truly ensure that their clients love their home and feel confident and joyful about the space.”

Lisa found herself going back to K. Renee time and again for her daughter and herself. When she and her husband, Joel, bought a townhome in Kansas City, she turned to K. Renee to furnish and style their entire home.

“It’s all so professionally done,” says Lisa. “They make it really look like it’s been professionally decorated, but yet it stays comfortable, so that when people come in, they feel very welcome and at-home.”

Lisa appreciated that she had the opportunity to see and touch everything that went into each project. K. Renee stocks their showroom with beautiful, ready-to-go furnishings and accessories. Whether a customer is looking for a candle or an entire room —or house—full of furniture, it’s there for the taking. And there’s more where that came from—a nearby warehouse allows the designers to keep the showroom fresh and ever-changing.

When working with clients, the designers at K. Renee work in tandem on every project. If a client embraces the overall K. Renee style and has their eye on an item or two, a designer will make plans to visit their home, take photos and measurements, and discuss a vision for the project – no matter how small. Then, the designers get to work brainstorming ideas and putting together a plan and a timeline that suits the client. Their goal is always to incorporate the homeowners’ style as well as any of their favorite things into the project.

“The [customer is] never committed, but we’re here to narrow it down so it’s not overwhelming,” says K. Renee designer Stacie Schulz of the complimentary design service. “Most people that come in here know what they love, but they don’t always know how to put it together, and we’re here to help them and guide them through that process.”

The finale of the K. Renee experience is arguably the favorite of clients and designers alike. In a single day, the white-glove movers and installers, who are quite literally part of the K. Renee family, will unload, unpack, install, and place everything in the plan—including a few extras that give the space a final flair. The reveal is what makes the designers at K. Renee revel in their jobs.

“You know, ultimately, we all just love what we do here,” says Schulz. “It’s just an amazing experience when we get to go in and do this for somebody… It’s really quite special, very rewarding. We’re here to lift each other up and continuously grow together. So yeah, it’s a super fun environment,”

The K.Renee Experience is apparently a gift that keeps on giving.
