Q: What do you love most about Greater Des Moines/your community?
Zhan-bin: Walking around the downtown Des Moines Farmer’s Market from May to October is my favorite weekend activity. My family enjoys the fresh produce from local farmers and producers.
Sarah: I love that we’re close to so many things — great trails to explore and so many ways to get involved.
Brian: Born and raised in Des Moines, what I love most is the growth and evolution of the community.
Cara: Seeing the city blossom with new communities, things to do, and people from all over the world – it’s amazing. I love the people here – how they come together in times of need and help each other out. I love the diversity in our communities, the growth yet we have a small-town atmosphere.
Stacia: That it’s growing and changing but is still a safe place to raise a family. Our downtown is continually evolving. It has amazing recreational and social opportunities – there’s something for everyone!
Q: What led to a career in agriculture?
Zhan-bin: My degree in Plant Molecular Biology led me to a research scientist position. I developed a passion for improving agricultural productivity and nutritional values of crops.
Sarah: I didn’t have an educational background in agriculture but did have a background in supply and shipping and thankfully that helped me land a position with Corteva.
Brian: The Pioneer® brand always stood for quality products and strong employee engagement. The company has a major focus on the next generation of agrisciences and technologies – that’s what attracted me to this career.
Cara: Agriculture is the foundation of our survival, and I am proud to have an active role in an industry that is so vital to our country.
Stacia: I love working for a company whose mission is to enrich the lives of farmers and find sustainable ways to feed an ever-growing population.
