Riana LeJeune
Q: How did you get started in your career?
A: In 2013, I fell in love with furniture and design. I couldn’t find an upholstery school in Iowa or mentors locally. So, I sought out mentors all over the U.S. and eventually Europe to learn from. I have spent the last nine years dedicated to honing my craft.
Q: What do you love about your career?
A: I love that what I create has never existed before and will never exist again. Custom furniture is one-of-a-kind functional art with an emphasis in quality and longevity. I have the skill and expertise to work on everything from the 1800s to modern builds from scratch!
Q: What are some guiding principles you’ve used in your career?
A: “Do the right thing even when no one is watching.” The internal structure of a piece of furniture is just as important as the fabric covering it. Once the original covering is removed, we evaluate what lies beneath. If the suspension system or foam needs to be replaced, we do so for quality and longevity.
Q: What is a fact about yourself others may not know?
A: After turning my hobby into my career, I’ve taken up Ballroom dancing to help me fi nd balance.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: In 2021, Repinned created a much-needed Apprenticeship to share our knowledge and skills. Growing our team from 2 to 4 to meet central Iowa’s demand for quality upholstery services.
