Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: Goodwill of Central Iowa (GCI) is a nonprofit organization focused on making purposeful employment possible for all Central Iowans. Through programs such as skills training, career development, job coaching and day services, we are helping overcome challenges and inspire confidence in the lives of Central Iowans facing barriers to employment.

Q: What do you love most about Greater Des Moines?
A: Greater Des Moines has a diverse culture of caring people. At Goodwill, we treat all people with love, kindness and respect. The Greater Des Moines area embodies that same spirit. Whether you are thrifting, donating your items or making a financial contribution – you are helping us fulfill our mission.

Q: Who inspires you?
A: Our people – they are why we come to work every day. Goodwill isn’t just a place that serves individuals with disabilities, we are a place where people matter and everyone is welcomed. Goodwill isn’t just a workplace, it is a place to find meaning and purpose in what you do.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to enter your field? A: We encourage anyone looking to join the GCI Mission Services team to come with an open heart and caring attitude. Supporting individuals to reach their goals, live more fulfilling lives and actively participate in their communities is extremely rewarding. This work is not easy, but it is always worth it.
