McAninch Family Aquatic Center Ribbon Cutting

Nonprofit: Easter Seals Iowa

Event: McAninch Family Aquatic Center Ribbon Cutting

Date: June 8, 2017

Venue: Easter Seals Iowa Camp Sunnyside

Main Attraction: Easter Seals Iowa held a ribbon cutting for the McAninch Family Aquatic Center June 8 at 4:30 p.m. at Camp Sunnyside, 401 NE 66th Avenue in Des Moines. The pool was installed in 1962 and was in desperate need of repair to keep it in working order for the hundreds of clients and campers who use the pool year-round at Camp Sunnyside. The pool renovation is a public-private partnership spearheaded by Doug and Donna McAninch.  The integrated programming at Easter Seals Iowa allows people with and without disabilities, to learn and grow alongside each other. Thanks to our generous community of supporters, and leadership from Doug and Donna McAninch, our new therapy pool is accessible, provides sensory-friendly areas, a splash pad and zero-entry, while promoting health and wellness. Plans for phase two of renovations were also revealed which include updates to the adjoining Lodge.
