Outsource Dinner Duties To Good Chives Meals

Good Chives Meals creates ready-to-eat food packed with produce and healthy ingredients.

Since 2017, Shauna Meany has been sharing photos of her favorite meals on her @
good.chives Instagram account. But it wasn’t until March 2021 that Meany (who has a toddler with her husband, Ross, and works full time at Meredith Corp.) officially morphed the account into a business: Good Chives Meals.

“When I would share my family meals on Instagram, specifically when it came to my weekly meal prep, people would always say, ‘I wish you could just come do my meal prep for me,’ ” Meany says.

The goal of the business is to provide the benefits of meal prep without the work, similar to subscription services like Blue Apron, HelloFresh and more. But unlike those meal kits, Meany’s meals come ready to eat—no subscription required, much akin to the
Grateful Chef model. Meany releases a different menu each week, then shops, chops, cooks and cleans for her clients who can order single-serving meals on the Good Chives Meals website. When placing an order, clients choose to pick it up on the following Thursday at the Mickle Center (1620 Pleasant St.) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. or at 142nd Street and Hickman Road from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Meany finds menu inspiration all around her. Many of the items are produce-packed and often gluten- and dairy-free, like golden turmeric chickpea soup, harissa chicken bowl and cinnamon roll energy bites. “[My sources are] the new dish I tried at a local restaurant, the recipe I saw posted on my favorite food bloggers’ Instagram, the beautiful produce I found at the farmers market,” she says.

Even if you don’t need the convenience of Good Chives, these meals will satisfy, Meany promises: “If you like the idea of fueling your body with healthy food that actually tastes delicious, Good Chives Meals is for you.”

New menus are released weekly at goodchivesdsm.com. Keep up with Meany on facebook.com/goodchivesdsm and on Instagram @good.chives.
