Wasabi

L-R: Jay Wang, Jim Zheng

Q: What do you love about your career?
A: Jay Wang: The restaurant business is a tasty blend of passion, creativity and human connection. I started at the bottom and learned everything I could. I embraced the chaos that goes along with this industry. It’s a very busy but fun environment.

Q: What professional or personal accomplishments are most meaningful to you?
A: Opening my own restaurants and receiving such positive reviews and feedback from our loyal customers has been so meaningful to me. We received an “Outstanding Immigrant Business” award from the state of Iowa, which was an amazing award to receive.

Q: What are the personal values that drive you?
A: My passion for food and hospitality drives me, and it’s essential. Attention to details is key to running a successful business. Creativity and innovation are at the forefront of what we do, and our commitment to our customers is very important to us.

Q: Who inspired you along the way and why?
A: Anthony Bourdain. He was so much more than just a chef and world traveler; he was a storyteller, exploring different cultures and their cuisine. Also, David Chan, a chef and culinary genius, is an absolute master in the kitchen and within his businesses.
