Blue Beauty

Paint color: Stratton Blue by Benjamin Moore
Amanda Reynal, owner of Amanda Reynal Interiors, chose this hue because “there is no easier color to decorate with than blue—it can be bold and striking or soft and soothing.” She adds that blue draws from “the most beautiful aspects of nature and can evoke feelings from peacefulness to inner strength. The range of blues varies from sky to sea and everything in between.”

What’s more, blue is “a neutral in its own right” that can be used in both modern and traditional decor, she says. The color “looks crisp and nautical against white, regal and elegant paired with gold, or preppy and fun paired with pink or green. Its versatility is endless and it is a classic, tireless color.”

Black and Bold

Paint color: Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams

Black on walls? Absolutely, say Nichole Staker and Skylar Adamson of Nichole Staker Design. “Black is always a classic and timeless look, but it has to be the ‘right’ black,” Adamson explains. “Adding a rich, sophisticated color like Tricorn Black makes a space feel completely different from others.”

She admits that black is a “bold choice, but for those willing to take the risk, it has such a payoff. Ultimately, black is always chic, and its depth envelopes the space with a modern sophistication.”

Vibrant Pink

Paint color: Royal Flush by Benjamin Moore

Tom Rosenfeldt, owner of Renovation Home, knows this vibrant pink may be too adventurous for many people to consider for walls, but that shouldn’t stop them from using it in smaller doses. “I don’t think most people can handle a lot of color, but they can handle a piece of furniture or something smaller,” he says.

“That pink tone—you see it in nature,” he adds. “You see it in flowers. You see it in the sky when the sun’s setting. It’s a brighter color, but it also can be a just-make-you-feel-good color. I think it could actually bring a smile to your face.”
