Des Moines photographer Molly Wood, who specializes in shooting botanicals, was drawn to this seed head of clematis “because of its Dr. Seuss-like qualities,” she says. “I research and read about plants having medical properties and then go on the hunt for them.” Although poisonous, this variety (Clematis vitalba) is being researched as an anti-inflammatory for arthritis.
