Charlie Wittmack
Q: What moment in your career had the biggest impact on your perspective?
A: In college, I worked as a photographer for a newspaper. One day, The New York Times ran a front-page photo that was taken on an iPhone and originally published to social media. In that moment, I understood that multiple industries would be transformed or destroyed. I knew then that in my professional life, I would always strive to be at the crest of the wave instead of the trough.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
A: Jim Mattis once said, “If you haven’t read hundreds of books, you are functionally illiterate, and you will be incompetent because your personal experiences alone aren’t broad enough to sustain you.” Our clients come to WLF for our insights and perspectives, both of which are informed by the extraordinary breadth of our team’s and clients’ personal and professional experiences.
Q: What are you most excited about in your profession?
A: With the advent of artificial intelligence, the legal sector is facing an existential reorganization. WLF has invested heavily in sophisticated research and drafting tools that allow us to provide the breadth and quality of legal services that, until recently, only large global firms could. As a result, we can provide greater value to our clients by focusing more on strategy and less on Oxford comments – ultimately allowing us to achieve results which otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
