… at Art at the Castle 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at Salisbury House & Gardens. We’re especially excited about this first-time event because it’s a terrific example of collaboration: It jointly benefits Salisbury House and Des Moines Metro Opera. Walter Edelman, a New York art lecturer, critic and dealer, will bring 400 unframed works of art to Salisbury House that you can view and buy. Edelman will give a presentation, pointing out a few of the most interesting details about each piece.

The unframed art, primarily oil on canvas but also some limited-edition prints, will include landscapes and figurative pieces, as well as more contemporary and abstract works. Prices will range from $100 to $10,000, but the median price will be $1,000 to $2,000, and most of the higher-end pieces will cost $3,000 to $4,000, notes Patrick Van Nice, a West Des Moines interior designer. Nice, who came up with the idea for the event and is the main organizer, owns Patrick Van Nice Interiors LLC, the presenting sponsor.

If you can’t make it to the event, don’t worry; you can stop by Salisbury House to browse and buy the artworks from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. that day and from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 9.
