Moonshine at Arboretum

What were you doing 20 years ago? Buz Brenton was thinking about trees. That’s when the Brenton Arboretum opened near Dallas Center. Since then, more than 2,200 trees have been added to the arboretum’s 141 pastoral acres.

To celebrate this anniversary year, the arboretum is having a June Moon evening of food and music this Friday, June 9, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. It’s a barbecue dinner with country and folk music by Kevin Gordon and featuring a special guest appearance by the full moon laying claim to the dark rural sky.

This event is the highlight of their anniversary year, Brenton officials say. The cost is $75, payable here. Brenton Arboretum’s address is 25141 260th St., Dallas Center. Questions? Call 515-992-3302.
