Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: A.J. Perez: A proud Iowan with roots in Des Moines from a family who values hard work, family celebrations, good education and the arts. A curious person who enjoys learning new things from people I meet and know. Someone who appreciates the opportunity to lead a business team. A die-hard Iowa Hawkeye fan!

Q: What do you love most about Greater Des Moines?
A: I love the planning and vision that went into the development of Des Moines the past 25-30 years. Between the downtown updates, and growth of the suburbs, there is something for everyone. I love that most all places are a short distance. The commitment to the arts and athletic events is terrific. It is also a great place for business.

Q: How did you get started in your career?
A: After graduating from the University of Iowa, I moved to Chicago and got an opportunity to join Chrysler Corporation. This introduced me to the automotive industry and the dealer distribution network. I moved eight times in 24 years with Chrysler Corporation. The opportunities and business relationships I made throughout the years led me to where I am today.

Q: What do you love about your career?
A: The opportunity to work with a diverse group of people in an environment that requires teamwork. One of my favorite things is to watch a talented individual who is not aware of the talents they possess grow and succeed in a way they had not envisioned. I also love new vehicle innovations in our industry.
