How would you describe your style?

It’s a combination of everything I’ve witnessed and experienced. Typically, I like to step out of the box of traditional fashion trends with mood, feeling and an emphasis on building creativity from emotion. I like to keep up with current trends, but I don’t usually purchase the latest fads. I like to keep it funky while maintaining class.

Any particular sources of inspiration?

I don’t typically look to specific icons or individuals, but I’ll nod to different eras in fashion history. I’ve always loved vintage fashion and artifacts. Collecting vintage fashion has been a huge step in my wardrobe and style inspiration. I’ve spent time working with Rumors Vintage in Des Moines, and I found a niche in what I truly love about fashion: piecing together items from different eras to create a new look in the current one. My favorite eras to wear are the ’60s and ’70s, and I’ve collected many pieces from that time, specifically Western wear and disco, and I’ve also inherited ’80s and ’90s pieces from my mom. My collection and style are always evolving.

What are some of your favorite pieces of clothing or accessories?

I have a pair of ’70s handmade Italian leather patchwork boots that I don’t think will ever leave my wardrobe. My mom found them at a side-of-the-road consignment store for $10, and they’re the best pick ever. A few other staple pieces are my rings from various local artists and my necklace that says “Ella,” which I wear every day.
