Q: How does your organization contribute to the community?
A: Children & Family Urban Movement meets the needs of our community with support for families and individuals around the River Bend neighborhood. We were recently invited to assist heroic Moulton Elementary teachers in their effort to boost student literacy rates and help children exceed grade level! We have an urgent need for volunteers to bolster the Lunch Bunch, a literacy and mentorship initiative designed to nurture academic success for K-fifth graders.

Becoming a reading buddy in the Lunch Bunch means once a week, you will be able to read, mentor and grow alongside a Moulton kid or two over lunch! We need YOUR help to spread the word of this opportunity and elevate your lunch from lonely leftovers to a good book with a Cool Cub! If you can be a positive, consistent influence for a child, please email volunteers@cfum.org to get on the schedule.

Check out the Iowa Cubs and their Reading Buddies Initiative, for every RBI hit, a generous friend of CFUM will donate $5 toward our Lunch Bunch program. CFUM depends on the generosity of individuals with their time and resources to invest in free, enriching child care and food security programs for those who need them most.
