Q: How did you get started in your career?
A: I am a CPA and used to work with various clients in retail. I actually went into business with a couple of them. I started small, in a few collectives, which is a great way to start and learn the business. Then I branched out on my own and opened our first store in Jordan Creek Mall.
Q: What do you love about your career?
A: I love helping customers find exactly what they are looking for and sometimes find something new! I love helping customers think outside the box and break certain “rules,” especially when it comes to fashion being specific to an age.
Q: What are some guiding principles you’ve used in your career?
A: Be kind, be honest. Listen to others. Family comes first.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: I would like to highlight my two employees, Kelly and Sherri. They are really what keeps True Style running. Willing to do whatever it takes! Several years ago, we had a store in Iowa City and every day one of us would drive there from Des Moines to run the store. They are the best and I couldn’t do this without them.
