200,000 each year the Art Center serves more than 200,000 people.
150 community outreach and art access programs serve 35 community partners through 150 programs annually.
Free admission to the museum and sculpture park is always free for everyone.

Mission

Through its collections, exhibitions, and educational programming, the Des Moines Art Center provides opportunities for transformational art experiences.

Key Services Provided

The Art Center is a non-profit art museum, community art school, and sculpture park recognized nationally and internationally for its modern and contemporary art collection. The museum is committed to engaging the public with art through changing exhibitions, the permanent collection, studio classes, tours, art access programs, and events.

Key Audiences Served

Our community outreach programs offer rewarding and emotionally regulating interactions, guiding students of all ages to use the arts as an outlet for thoughts, emotions, and aspirations. Education programs and interpretative materials include conversational tours, artist talks, school programs, gallery activities, and audio content highlighting personal connections inspired by artworks.
